1st verse
Several years ago, somebody broke into my son's shop while he and his wife were at work, and stole $5000 worth of tools. They were reasonably sure that they knew who did it, but the suspect was a cousin of the cop who investigated. Somehow they never got enough evidence to arrest anybody. Insurance paid for most of the tools.

2nd verse
Somebody opened the garage of a house under construction and stole all the tools in my son's tool trailer. They had a key to the garage but they had to break the lock on the trailer. Soon, the tools appeared at pawn shops not far from here. They matched serial numbers and some of them even had my son's name etched into the metal.
But when the police went to the pawn shops, the tools were gone. No evidence, no case. Again, insurance paid for most of the tools.

3rd verse
My son-in-law has an old house on his farm that is used for storage. Thieves broke the lock on the back door, and stole tools, a tiller, a new air conditioner, and some fishing tackle. They drove a truck through an electronic gate which can only be opened if you have the code. The gate was not damaged, so they knew the code. A neighbor saw a truck come out of that gate and drive away. They even identified the driver. The police who did investigation, found the tools in a pawn shop. They called my son-in-law to identify them, but by the time he got there the pawn shop had called the thieves (there were three of them)and told them the tools were hot and could they come a pick them up. They did. No evidence, no case, no tools, no air condioner, no. . . . well you get the idea. The insurance company has been notified.

I hope we don't need to write any more verses to this song. I really think there is something fishy going on. Oh, the first two break-ins were in one county and the last one was in another. As far as we know, they were different thieves, different investigators, different pawn shops, different insurance companies.
