I don't think most people who believe in God (or any god) would agree with that statement. I get the impression that they genuinely do believe their god exists. Besides, you can't believe in something just because you want it to exist - that's more along the lines of "hope". You have to believe in it because you've already accepted that it exists.
I'm pretty deep in the science camp. I believe that if you can't do an experiment to determine whether God exists, then for all intents and purposes there is no God. That's enough disbelief to satisfy all my intents and purposes.
Then again, the *belief* in God can have profound effects. So how right am I really? That's for you to discover for yourself.
