I don't think I can get around the ridiculosity (one of my favourite made-up words) of this story either, but I guess if any law has been broken it's that the guy took from other people (virtual) assets that had a real dollar value and a replacement cost.

Sounds a lot like stealing to me, and it shouldn't matter that the "property" he stole wasn't tangible.

To me the higher craziness is that people will spend real money to get in-game property.
