Fantasy Quest 2--the giraffe and the alcove-HELP!!!!

I found the cave, and I taunted the giraffe to distract him and
got into the valley, but keep having to hide in the alcove. I've
poured green potion on him and plugged up his nose with the
coin, but nothing seems to really do anything
