Game of the Ages: Feelings of Despair...

It's getting late and frustrating for me heh. So far, my inventory includes:

1 gold coin
diving mask
broken sword
magic armour
pick
ticket
key of questioning
life preserver
stone of strengthening
food rations
dead fish
bucket
rope

I actually redid my game thinking I messed up when my character got painted as a wizard. I tried all three gates and I couldn't get in...I was even trying to get thrown into jail lol! I mean, I know the Gate of Despair is the gate that wizards go through but it kinda defeats the point that all I can manage to do is get spit on and bombarded with rotten fruits. Help?
