Fantasy Quest 2--pointers

I can't seem to be smarter than the drake. I have been fighting
him with my sword for a long time and can't seem to figure out
how to kill him. I'm sure there is a certain 'rhythm' to how I
choose the options, I just can't figure it out. Would someone
give me some pointers please?
