Yep. At least I know who he is. The real owner of the car is Chip Canase. I doubt that I spelled Chip's last name right, but that's how it is pronounced. McMurray is just the driver, but he is a very good driver. In fact, he still has a year left on his current contract, and has already been hired to drive the number six car for Jack Rosche. I'm going to look up Jack's last name too. Mark Martin, Jack's current no. 6 driver, is going to retire. You don't have to be a full time NASCAR fan to know who Chip, Jamie, Jack, and Mark are, because they are the best in the racing business.
Do you work for Texico? They sponsor Jamie's car and I'm sure they would consider it an honor to have that car in their lobby.
Now about that car. It's a show car. Most show cars have never been raced and most never will be, but they are set up exactly like the one's that go out on the track every week. I saw an IRL car in a supermarket once and it didn't even have an engine. NASCAR probably wouldn't like for their teams to do that.
I was standing behind a Mark Martin show car at a parts dealership one time when they started up the engine. It almost knocked me down. I've felt sound waves before, but never anything like that. But it was a lot less exciting than the time I sat on turn four at Talladega, during the pre-restrictor plate days, and 43 cars led by Bill Elloitt, took the green flag. The sound of nearly 40,000 horsepower going full blast is something I'll never forget.
Thanks for the chance to ramble on about one of my favorite subjects. Howard
