I remember Kansas. It was the summer of 1970 when we stopped at a rest area for lunch. I don't know how hot it was, but the wind was really ripping and it felt like a blast furnace. We got down behind the car and opened a fresh loaf of bread to make PB&J sandwiches. As soon as a slice came out of the wrapper, it got stale. When we started eating it was like toast. For seasoning, the wind provided dust. The kids, ages 4 to 11, found out they could lean against the wind. When I tried to pour water into a cup the water blew away. Then the cup was ripped out of my hand. Now that I think about it, maybe that water just evaporated. Howard
