I just read an article in American Profile about an artist named Simmie Knox. So I did a search and turned up a website (see link). Knox has done presidents and judges and lots of famous people, but he also does still life. I think he does better with black faces, probably because he is black.

He fits the profile of people who are my heros. He came out of a cotton field and made it to the top by hard work and tallent. There seems to be a lot of those in America.
