Game of ages : stuck at the outpost

Inventory
6 red gemstones
4 black gemstones
guards sword
stone of strengthening
food rations
rope
tinder box
torch
key of opening
clear focus stone
map
magnifying glass
picture

I have got the rink and have gone to the outpost, but was not able to enter, the rink only follows me in the deserts. Back at the castle, i can tie the rope to the battlement, in two seperate places but do not seem to be able to do anything with it. i am really unsure of what i am to do next....what is my next mission?
