It's always nice when someone makes your point for you. :-) And the point is: you and I agree it's tiring, inconvenient, and may have repercussions throughout the day, but *it's still not a bad day* in and of itself, just because you woke up early. Other things may happen during that day that the add straws to the camel's back to make it a bad day; I'd even grant that being tired my predispose you to gathering more of those straws than usual...
...but when you first wake up, early, *it's not a bad day yet* ! Unless you want it to be.
For the record, I would grant a dispensation to anyone who has an infant, a sick child, does shift work (especially rotating shift work) and/or has a chronic or temporary health problem that may cause cumulative sleep deprivation.
But if you're "none-of-the-above", a couple hours less sleep shouldn't kill you and in fact may actually improve your mood. I read somewhere once that a temporary fix for a (non-clinical) case of the blues is to stay up very late, and rise early or at your normal time the next day. It is supposed to kind of "reboot" your brain chemisty.
