Hello, and welcome to the forum. We hope you stay and enjoin the lack of show.

> Is gambling a sin?

If you're a Catholic, this is definitive:
>Games of chance (card games, etc.) or wagers
>are not in themselves contrary to justice.
>They become morally unacceptable when they
>deprive someone of what is necessary to provide
>for his needs and those of others. The passion
>for gambling risks becoming an enslavement.
>Unfair wagers and cheating at games constitute
>grave matter, unless the damage inflicted is so
>slight that the one who suffers it cannot
>reasonably consider it significant.

Most other varieties of Christians would agree.

If you're Muslim, then the answer is simply Yes. If you're Jewish, then No. If you're an ancient Greek, the answer is also Yes. Not a lot of other groups even have the concept of sin. Hindus (I think) believe gambling is evil. New Agers don't have any beliefs rational enough to examine. If you're nothing in particular, the answer is nothing in particular.

Er, the truth of the matter doesn't really depend on your beliefs, but it seemed easier to provide the above answer than get into an argument about why My Beliefs Are The Right Ones. Even though they are. :)
