Getting ill suddenly.

For those of you who don't read LiveJournal, (probably most of you), I developed a really nasty ache in my left leg on Wednesday. By Friday, I had been to the local doctors, then the hospital, where I spent 7 hours having Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) diagnosed and a course of treatment started.

I will be on Warfarin, (yep, rat poison) for the next three months and if it fails to clear this particular instance up, for the rest of my life.

Naturally, this has curtailed my activity a little bit. I can only walk at a slow hobble, have to wear a support stocking and attend hospital daily for the next five days.

I am signed off from work for the next fortnight, but this is small consolation as the work I was scheduled to be doing was easy and had a good shift bonus attached.

I am also sworn off scuba diving while on this drug (again for life if I have to stay on it.)

I can no longer donate blood either. That's the bit that rankles the most. I was proud of attending every session and was looking forward to getting over 100 donations in my useful lifetime.

Bottom line, your health is the most important thing you have, look after yourself.

Beasty
