And we might get to go down to the gulf to do some deep sea fishng pretty soon. The last time we did that, we caught a bunch of shark and red snapper. > Now I'm rambling since it's 8 in the morning and I haven't finsihed my coffee yet. > Anyways, Have a good trip!
It was a good trip. Somehow it took 10 hours down and 11 back. We went to the Lamar-Dixon Expo Center in Gonzales, which is about one traffic jam southeast of Baton Rouge. The center is a big complex on a dead-end road named "No Outlet." It has several really big buildings and acres of concrete roads and parking lots. I rode my Allstate all over the place for hours. I wish it had an odometer, but I would guess I logged between 50 and 100 miles without leaving the site. Naturally, I saw a lot of old scooter friends from all over the country.
The Cushman Club is a social organization, and collecting and restoring vintage motor scooters is just an excuse to get together and swap lies. I was pleased to see more family groups than usual. When three or four generations enjoy the same activity, it has to be a good thing.
I found out that I don't care too much for creole cooking, but the people down there are very friendly. There is a lot more to Louisiana than New Orleans. People who depend on the media to help them form an opinion of Louisiana are going to have it all wrong. That is true of a lot of places, Tennessee for example.
I don't care if it is New England, Deep Dixie, California or Texas, you won't know what it's really like until you spend some time there.
I can't wait for the next scooter meet. Howard
