Been there, done that. Had to climb the fire escape and get into my unlocked sliding door. Then I had to wave my keys at my neighbor who was driving in in an attempt to convince her I wasn't burglarizing my own place.

The worst thing is that I realized I didn't have my keys before I got down the stairs from my apartment, and I went back up to see if maybe, just maybe, the door hadn't shut all the way and was still open. And, miracle of miracles, it was! Unfortunately, somehow (and I'm still unsure exactly how) when I reached for the doorknob, I managed to PULL IT FULLY SHUT instead of doing what I INTENDED to do, which was push it open again. So not only did I lock myself out, I essentially did it on purpose.
