All the gifts you get from professors (except the English teacher)
will be used when you lay the smackdown on Hennus at the end.
Don't worry about it.
Seeing as how you have no dinner invitation, however, you need
to book it and do your English teacher her favor so you can a)
get plans for the evening, b) inadvertently find a new place to
hide your fugitives and c) get a new outfit from Verna in return. I
think the English teacher's errand is one you can still accomplish
at night, since you need it to get through an important plot
twist.
