MV level 6 - Should I have to kill 100s of blues to complete it?

I wonder if this is intended. I killed 19/20 red parties and cannot
reach the last one because of the Troll. After spending a lot of time
killing blues (about 60 parties), I managed to get to within about
50,000 gp of his price. If, once I pay him, I get killed by the last red
party, I will have to start all over again, with 3 reds and over 100
blues to kill. Somehow that doesn't sound right...
