Memorial Day is almost here again. I'm sure that all the countries represented on this forum have a similar holiday. I think that we tend to forget the original purpose of this holiday, which is to honor our war dead. It is now often used to honor all dead veterans, regardless of when they served. If you live fairly close to a national cemetery, and you have never visited one, I would urge you to do so this year. It's a moving experience. You can find a list of cemeteries at the link below. We have all heard that "freedom isn't free," and few things can drive that point home with the force of a visit to a national cemetery, where many of our veterans are buried. When you drive through a national cemetery, especially a large one, and you see acres upon acres filled with row after endless row of white tombstones, it helps you appreciate the price that this nation has paid for liberty.
