Once I watched a beauty pagent that involved contestants from all over the world. One part of the program involved the women dressing in a way that was representative of their country. The woman from the United States was dressed as a cowgirl. Not all Americans identify with that type of dress, but that did not mean it was totally invalid to represent America.
