Killing red parties is the whole point of the game, and you don't need any of them alive to do anything. Sam has said time and again that you almost never truly need to restart a level, so go forth and kill them reds.

If you want to prevent a wall from moving, the easiest way would be not to cause it to move in the first place. I think having a red party in the path of a moving wall disables an entire switch anyway, so I don't think that could ever be of any use.

I hope this isn't giving anything away, but nothing that is recognized by the "no life" corridor as a form of life will be allowed to pass. Murkon is (obviously) recognized as life, and clearly he needs to get through there somehow.
