the train

I'm going to do a little research on this, but I am beginning to suspect that if I look at an AmTrac map it will show a web of train routes all over the country with a big hole over Tennessee. People in this area drive to Atlanta, Cincinatti, or (I think) Charlotte to start a trip on Amtrac. Those are half a day's drive from here. If any Amtrac trains come into Tennessee, it must be Memphis which is roughly 400 miles to the west. I'll check that out.
As a kid, I took a few short train trips and I liked it. The last train I rode was from London to Cardiff, Wales and that has been 15 or 20 years ago. It's a good way to travel. With flying becoming more difficult every day, I am beginning to hanker for a train ride to the wild west. But I don't want to drive all day to get started and leave my car in a strange town at maybe ten bucks a day. There are two or three train stations in this county, but none are in use any more. Wouldn't it be great to park in a free city parking lot and walk 100 feet to board a train to go to Flagstaff? If AmTrac stopped here, I could. By the time I drive to Memphis, I might as well drive on to Flagstaff. Howard
