It's not just your job. Lots of jobs are like that.
But that part about preparing food with a limited time worries me. I like meat well done. I know about bacteria and paracites. We eat out a lot and we tend to like small locally owned restaurants. Too much corperate control is probably not always a good thing.
Waiting tables is a tough job with low pay. There are a lot of jobs in that catagory. The last time I waited tables it paid 41 cents an hour plus tips. In those days, a dime was an average tip, but if you got several quarter tips in a shift, you were in big money. Everybody worked split shifts. You came in for four hours, went home for two and came back for four more. No extra pay for that. But we served food that was properly cooked, and never made anybody sick.
I also worked for tips as a bellhop in a hotel. I averaged less than 5 cents per bag, and the largest tip I ever got was $1.40. The guy was drunk. I don't suppose you ever have to deal with drunks, do you?
Ah, the good old days. I like my present job -- retirement. Howard
