This reminds me of something else that helps. Nobody likes idiots, and most of us don't like calling people idiots, but it would be hard to dispute that the presence of idiots has often stimulated great conversations in the past.

Thus, I contend that we need to find more ways to attract idiots. I don't expect that we could reasonably keep them, which makes it even more important that we keep luring new ones in on a regular basis. We could be the Venus Fly Trap of forums, or something.
