When I was in grad school, I used to play Hearts over the LAN we'd set up between several rooms on the dorm hall. This dumbfounded the future Mrs. Iss, who thought we were weirdos for playing a card game from four consecutive rooms instead of just sitting down and playing it in person. Of course, she was right, but the geek factor overwhelms mere reason in such cases.
Also, you can't play Duke Nukem 3D live and in person. (Well, you *shouldn't*, anyway.)
