Hrm. I think that a lot of the reasons that have been brought up here is why I've gone back into 'constant lurker status' around here, I suppose. There really are only so many topics to talk about, and when those are exhausted the only thing left to talk about tend to be more 'current event' type things.

For me -- and possibly a few others, I'm not sure -- the main reason why I don't seem to post too much is *because* this forum is generally one of high intellect and good discussions/debates. Therefore, whenever I think of posting something, I have to decide for myself if it's worthy enough to be put onto this forum (usually I find that answer to be "no", and end up posting to my Livejournal or something like that instead). I'm sure that many of you have had the experience of writing something in the reply box and then trashing it halfway through (or maybe even right after completing it) because you decide that it's just not good enough and/or worth posting. Though that sort of mentality definitely helps to keep out a lot of forum-junk... it quite probably takes out a bunch of things that might be highly appropriate to this forum nonetheless.

Additionally, this forum is one where a LOT of debate is usually spawned on almost any topic, from controversial politically-charged opinions to more simple things like M&M candies. Now, debate and discussion certainly aren't bad things at all, by any stretch of the imagination. However, in order to have a really good discussion/debate, you have to be prepared to spend a LOT of time to defend your position on what you post about -- whatever it may be. And time is something I find that most of us don't exactly have in spades.

Really, I'm not sure how to solve most of these issues though. I mean, I suppose that I could say something to the effect of "Okay people, all of us can be a little more liberal in terms of what we think is worth posting!" or something like that... but then I'd be highly hypocritical myself.

-Ka"No, I'm not 'back'... because I never really left"z!
