It was great, but very scary. There was our 1957 Volkswagen Bug scattered all over the place. The body was in one room and the floor pan (chassis) was in another. Doors, windows, fenders, front and back hoods, wheels and such were leaning against the wall. I don't remember seeing the seats or the bumpers.
Anyway, we had just taken a load of new parts to the restorer who has had the bug for over a year, but has just recently started working on it.
He had finished the welding on the body, which had some rust, and was about to begin on the floor pan. But already he was wanting to know about colors for the paint and fabrics. We picked Horizon Blue for the body, because some '57's came in that color.
With luck, it will be ready late summer or early fall.
We're picking up the tires at Coker tire company in Chattanooga. They make replica tires for everything from Cushman motor scooters to Volkswagens. I'm one of their regular customers.
This was part of that trip to West Virginia, and the Outer Banks. For the full story, click the link below.
Hmmmmm. I may have already posted a link here, but just in case . . . .
My head is still a little phoosey. Always has been. Howard
