> As you can tell by my obviously Fan-boy name I am a comic geek, and proud of it. (I like to think of my self as comic book geek supreme, but I digress) I have seen Lost Boys and liked it. It was slightly campy and it worked. I saw Se7en and abhorded it, violent and just ugly for no reason than to shock an aduience into paying attention. (My opinion is that everyone in the theater payed around eight bucks to see this movie, we're already paying attention! Now tell us a good story!) I saw Batman Forever (the first Shumacher bat-flick) and thought it was fun, not great drama or even cineme but a fun two hours or so. However, on be half of comic fans everywere (and Bat-Fans inparticularly) I must state that Joel Shumacher should be banned from directing anything ever agine (including home videos) to atone for his part in the sin that is Batman & Robin. As director he could have asked for rewrites (or am I giving him more power of the film than I thought) that would have done away with stupid one-liners, the hole 'Bat-Girl is Alfred's neice' (she is supposed to be bookish Barbra Gordon, Commisioner Gordon's daughter), and return Bane to coolness (he once broke Bat-Man's back in the comics). I also blame Joel for the Bat-Nipples, my god was that awfull.

Ok, I happened to watch Batman and Robin again today. We'll get to my slow torture later on... I don't think Schumacher had as much power as he should have in this movie; this is Warner Brothers, and their once-great franchise. What better way, thinks the studio, to ensure the success of our pet than to stroke it and love it and poke it and... I'm going into a Tommy Boy scene now. But you get the idea.

Yes, Schumacher did an appalling job of directing B&R... the bat-nipples are definitely a humorous footnote (notice that batgirl has none on her suit) in Batman history.

I think B&R successfully killed or put into the ICU the careers of everyone involved, except the megamonolithic Warner Brothers. What do they care?

And yes, I did watch the movie today. I forgot how purely AWFUL those one-liners are. The casting, the writing, the set design, the plot, the characterization, the special effects, the acting quality, and other "small nuances" are just slightly (and by "slightly" I mean "ridiculously and liberally") lacking in value/quality/tangibility. Mr. Freeze is actually INTELLIGENT in the comics; I just can't see Ahhhnold building all this contrapfoolery.

So, yes, it blows, to speak bluntly. But isn't it so FUN to ridicule?
