By "the platform," I assume you have yet to make it to the
second platform and are referring to the first (red) platform? You
can't really "do" anything to the platforms, although they provide
you with a shortcut later, so don't worry about the platform.
But that's where you're stuck, and I see no plank in your
inventory, which means you haven't gotten past the bog to the
south.
And of all things, my notes do not mention what you buy that
plank with...
