you have to do the right things in the right order to be able to kill him. certain moves make him more vulnerable so you can stick him with your sword, once you've hurt him a few times you can then kill him. i can't remember exactly what to do in what order but it's just trial and error, once you get a good result from one action, go through all the options till you get another good one, and just keep doing that. he's pretty annoying but you don't need anything else before you kill him, except patience!
