Sometimes it is necessary to re-read material. I usually do that with instructions, but seldom do I re-read a book. I guess I would rather spend my time on something new.
My wife recently re-read "Black Like Me." She said she wanted to see how her perception had changed since she read it the first time several decades ago.
I did that once with "Hamlet." I worked on a production of the play in the early 1950's. I mostly did behind the scenes stuff but I "carried a spear," so to speak, in a couple of scenes. I remember reading the entire thing before production started and then listened to the dialog over and over until I was more than just familiar with it. About 20 years later, I read it again and was surprised at how little I remembered. Howard
