I picked up a 75-cent copy of the Canterbury Tales and I'm almost done reading it. Even for people like me who went to small, lousy public schools, there are a surprising number of fart jokes.

"Till We Have Faces" is C.S. Lewis' best novel, according to himself and critics. The back describes it too simply as a "reworking of the classical myth of Cupid and Psyche." It's wonderfully good the entire way through so far.

Also, Augustine's "Confessions" and David Brin's "The Transparent Society". The translation I have of the former is too archaic and is making the reading unnecessarily difficult. The latter I like mostly for the quotes and allegories.
