Also, I recently read a book called The Hebrew Yeshua vs. the Greek Jesus, by Nehemia Gordon. It deals mainly with a seemingly odd passage in Matthew 23:1-3. The passage seems odd because it seems to say that our Messiah is telling us to obey the Rabbis no matter what they tell you to do, while much of the rest of the Gospels consist of Him defying their manmade rules. Nehemia uncovers the real meaning behind this passage when he discovers Shem-Tov's Hebrew Matthew, the Greek having failed to clarify.
Nehemia Gordon himself doesn't believe that Yeshua (Jesus) is the Messiah, on the basis that He hasn't fulfilled the prophecies regarding Messiah as king. (Basically, what those of us who believe on Him believe He will do next time He comes.) But try not to let that bother you too much as far as the message of the book is concerned. (He actually gets after the Rabbinic portion of Judaism more than he concerns himself with the doings of traditional Christianity.)
