My problem with his history books (I've also read his american history) is that his prose is so fun to read and goes down so easy that none of the information he gives "sticks" to my brain. but oh is he fun to read.
Hmmmmm. "Modern Times." Didn't Charlie Chaplin make that into a movie?
I'm currently reading"The Way It Was in the U.S.A.," subtitle, "The South." Apparently it was one of a series. My wife picked it up in a thrift store. It lists Clarencece P. Hornung on the dust jacket, but in the back there is a list of authors including Jessie Stuart and Mark Twain. It has drawings of many southern cities as they looked at the beginning of the 20th century, give or take a few decades. I spend more time on the pics than the text, so I've only read about 50 pages.
