miles

For years and years, we have put about 20,000 miles, annually, on the car and another 20,000 miles on the truck. That was when we were both working and the car went to Oak Ridge every day, and the truck went to Lenoir City. Then I retired and started dabbling in antiques and collecting motor scooters. This required a lot of driving, so the 20,000 miles per year continued.
Then my wife retired and we started going every where together. The miles on the car remained about the same, but the truck dropped to about 5000 a year. Sometimes it would sit for three or four weeks without being started. I still use it to run to the Wal-Mart, and it makes a trip to a scooter meet from time to time. We haul stuff sometimes, and once we drove it to Florida because the car had an electrical problem.
The practical thing would be to just have one vehicle, but a truck is really handy and I don't see any way we could get along without it. And we have to have a car, because we haul grandchildren around a lot. Besides, it is a lot more comfortable on trips and gets almost ten more miles per gallon.
Both vehicles have about 125,000 miles, but they are Toyotas, so they aren't worn out yet.
So why is this important? Beats me. Howard
