a school program

Caution: This message contains grandfather stuff.

A couple of days ago, while we were in Georgia, WMM and I attended a Christmas musical program which included our grand daughter (almost 10) and about 75 of her school mates. They traveled to a senior citizens center a few miles from their school where they sang and danced, played the bells, and showed off their recorder* group.

Now, as you might guess, I have seen a bunch of school programs, including a large number of chorus performances. This was a top ten or better. I don't think anyone missed a note in the entire performance. The seniors in the audience loved it, and the director of the center invited the group back again, saying, "You don't have to wait until next Christmas."

And as an added treat, I noticed that we were almost the youngest people in the audience. That doesn't happen much anymore.

*A recorder? You have probably played one, but just in case; it's a plastic flute-like instrument that is popular in school music programs.
