One of the best city websites on the web is http://hazardkentucky.com/ .
Hazard is a small town in Kentucky. I lived there during WWII and I can tell you that it was nothing to write home about. But people who spent their lives there think it's great and a bunch of them have contributed pictures and storys about Hazard and some other smaller communities in Perry County. The area has a long, colorful history that includes violent strikes, floods, mining and lumbering, and the World War eras. The early days were pioneers and moonshiners.
It's worth a look if only for the historic photographs that depict a way of life that most people today can hardly imagine.
Even today, the streets still follow the routes of the original muddy trails that pioneers used. I found an old picture of Cedar Street, where we lived, and it was only a path in 1910. In my day it was a narrow concrete street with a sidewalk on one side. Howard
