can't get past flame in FQ1

I have been trying for weeks now.

I have just opened the drawbridge to the castle that is past the garden, but i still can't get past the fire. I have helped the gnome in the forest, helped the indian and the deaf guy on the stump, killed almost everything, and i am still stuck.
