Outlaws: final battle, I think

So I've figured out what will hurt this villian. I've managed to rip
his shirt and slice his left side down to his wrist, SEVERAL times.
No other combination is working to wear him down. Am I wrong?
Or do I need to keep doing what I'm doing?
