You need to choose the options in the right order. It will be obvious when an option you chose is correct. If you mess up, repeat all the successful moves you made, then try another option.

Example (not real sequence):
1. You try to reach for your gun. You fail.
2. You try to punch him. Succeed.
3. You try to elbow him. Fail.
4. You punch him again, returning to where you were after move 2.
5. You try to roll out from under him. Succeed.
6. You try to bite him. Fail.
7. You punch him and roll away again, returning to where you were after move 5.
8. You reach for your gun. Succeed.
9. You shoot him. Succeed.

I think you get the picture.
