Thanks for the link. I find that rather fascinating. The remarkable thing is that I would read a long interview about something I know nothing about. And with my slow reading rate, it took a few minutes.

There were two things in there that really caught my attention. First, I wondered if a hobby that becomes a business is still a hobby. Does the fascination and enjoyment fade a little? My late Uncle Bill was a avid fisherman, but when he became a sporting goods dealer and had a TV show to support his business, it became work. He commented once that when the TV camera came on board the boat it was no fun any more.

The other thing that that I noticed is the reaction people have to someone who makes tiny tiny tack for tiny horses. I think it is the same reaction I get from people when I mention that I collect antique motor scooters. It's remarkable how many people say that they never heard of that hobby before, considering that there are about 20,000 collectors in the US alone, and many more in Europe. I even know of a couple of Cushman collectors in Japan. I can't help but wonder how many people are into little horse models.

All of this just points out the diversity in hobbies these days. It's not just coins, stamps, and pocket knives anymore.

And I just remembered something. I think my first post on RinkWorks was about hobbies. That was a long time ago, in a different century, when is a just a boy.
