> Is anyone else a "Maytag Repairman?" My job can be SOOOO boring at times! I'm a PC Hardware Tech for a company in Tulsa, OK (Corporate > Information Technologies.) We have a maintenance contract with Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, where I live. All I am supposed to be doing > is hardware related calls. I can't so much as load TR drivers for the TokenRing network the Univ has. 'Bout all I can do is sit and wait for something to > break. My boss drove down from Tulsa one day un-anounced. I was sitting at my monitor on the internet staring at 4 pictures of Garfield trying to find the > twins. My boss just laughed, pointed at his choices and said "I think it's these two." He told me not to worry. That's what they want me to do. If I'm doing > that stuff I'm not ordering replacement parts. Since it's a maintenance contract, NSU pays CIT a yearly "fee" and CIT uses that to buy the parts I need. > Whatever is left at the end of the fiscal is CIT's profit on that contract for the year. The less I order, the more CIT makes. I get *so* bored sometimes. > Anyone else like that? Or am I the only "lucky" one here? > > Drac "I just wanna be like all the other kids" imas
After re-reading the above I thought I might need to clarify a bit. I *can* load the drivers, and do other software related installs/configs I just am not allowed according to the terms of the contract. I don't mind people thinking I'm an idiot, as long as they think it for the right reasons. :o)
