i'm not sure whether i should be insulted or not... yes, i do go to a weird school. it's a public high school in washington dc called "School Without Walls", where the concept is to use the city as a classroom - internships, feild trips, college classes, that type of thing.

Penguins are just about the best possible mascot. They're different (which students at my school are, in a good sort of way), they stick together (which we do), they're basically pretty calm, except when you attrack something that's dear to them, in which case they can peck your eye out (you should ahve heard us when our new principal suggested changing our school mascot to the panther), we aren't necessarily comfortable in "normal situations (penguins, when walking, waddle), but get us into our elements, and we're perfect there (but they swim like crazy), they have FUN (ever seen penguins sliding down icebergs, all that stuff?), every now and then we might push one of our own to the sharks (penguins, if they think there are sharks in the water, will stand around the edge and jostle until one of them falls in - if he gets eaten, they don't get in the water).... penguins are perfect for us

uni"and we get cool school colors, too"peg
