You must have found the place where the papyrus is or you wouldn't have been able to get the shovel. Check that strange mound of dirt that you tried to dig with the pocket knife only this time use the shovel. Forget the candle holder. That's nothing. Just a diversion. Did you find the glasses in the maze? they are in the south western part of the maze. Once you turn those in you will have some money to buy the cog wheel. I see that you have some money but no gas. Go down to the library and read some books then go for a trip into town.
