ok I will try. Did you talk seriously with the bar keep and think over what he told you many times until you got the idea that you needed the ring? Took a look at the picture in the dinning room? I am assuming your rope is dangeling down the castle wall.
Oh and did you talk to the blacksmith about making you a ring? OK back to your rope. Did you then climb up the rope and enter the kitchen and play with the pans, hide and then escape out the window, then run around outside and enter the dining room and switch pictures? That should do it.
