Have you tried making a map? Get some grid paper and start filling in squares as you go. Every level is a maze and making your own maps is really helpful.

The Dreamer's Stone isn't a key item, you can find and hold onto more than one at a time. Where you find them is completely random, but you're more likely to discover them the deeper into the dungeons you go.

There is only one way to open the locked door, and it's not the dreamer's stone. You need the key. If you've got two assassins, you should have no trouble obtaining the key; you'll just have to find it.
