Not really. It turned out to be a peafowl, or more correctly a peahen. It was smaller than the showy peacocks that I have seen and rather mild mannered.

We have a lot of Guineas in this area. They seem to prefer roadsides, and if not penned, they head for the nearest highway to observe the traffic. I can't begin to guess why.
