When you get past the black cat in the garden and you are right next to the castle, NEVER choose the option to wave your arms around wishing you could be somewhere more comfortable. Because if you do then your wish will come true and you will be transported all the way back to where the bashed in west wall and the indian is. I learned that the hard way. :(
