Once you have flown in an airplane, the sky never looks the same again. Things that used to look two-dimensional take on a third dimension. Clouds are very different seen from above. You discover that you can see things 100 miles away, and from a high altitude, they look clearer than distant objects seen from the ground. And yes, that instant when you break through an overcast and rise into brilliant sunshine will take your breath away. At night, towns below appear like the coals of a dying campfire. Forget movies, paperbacks, and cat naps. I want to look out the window. I guess I am on my second million miles, but flying is still a real trip.
