While resurrection is comparatively affordable in Perinn, it's generally worthwhile to create a new character if you find your medical expenses outpace your revenues, and your character isn't that experienced yet.

The new guy should level up pretty quick, if he is accompanied by a party with higher experience. Just put him in the back, so he doesn't get hit, and let the others earn experience for him.

While you're at it, consider changing some of your new character's attributes, so that he's more resilient than your previous one.
