Ah, audio cassette-based data storage. What a hoot that was. Our TI-99/4A did that.
Dad wrote a program once that would play the tones needed for tuning the guitar. He never used it for that purpose, though. It was faster to just go over to the piano and play the appropriate tones there.
To bring up a program, you'd have to hook the player to the unit, put the tape in, turn on the computer, give it the "LOAD CS1" command, go through its options, and play the cassette when prompted. Sometimes it would load, and sometimes it wouldn't. Occasionally, the volume level was to blame.
And they sounded weird. Weirder than the old test of the Emergency Broadcast System, but not quite as ear-itating.
Thankfully, Munch Man et. al. (the Hoonos ;) ) came on solid state cartridges instead.
